Hearts Healed

Seven-year-old Francis was in a battle for his life. He was born with a complex heart defect, which stunted his physical growth, and had other problems that led to recurring infections. The surgery he needed wasn’t available in his native Uganda.

So, you can imagine his parents’ relief and joy last year when they learned that he could have a life-saving operation through the Children’s Heart Project of Samaritan's Purse. Their excitement turned to despair though when Francis began convulsing and was unresponsive only one hour into his flight to the Cayman Islands, where his surgery was to be performed.

The family feared the worst. They wondered, “How can the child die before he even arrives?”

Meet Francis

In addition to the article and photos, you can hear directly from Francis’ family about their ordeal and what Children’s Heart Project means to them on the latest episode of On the Ground with Samaritan’s Purse.
